Maple Syrup Bars

These rich, sweet dessert bars are super easy to make for a fast and tasty treat. Perfect for a fall tailgate party or to pass around a camp fire with family and friends! The bars don't call for many ingredients making it the perfect dessert recipe in a pinch.

 

Ingredients:

Crust

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 cup flour


Topping

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

1/4 cup butter

2 eggs

2 T flour

pinch of salt

Fresh from the oven, Maple Syrup Bars are a quick, sweet and sticky treat to share!

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine 1/2 cup of butter, 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of flour until mixture is crumbly. Press the mixture into a 8 inch baking pan. Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Remove and set aside.


In a saucepan, combine the maple syrup, brown sugar and walnuts and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low heat for 5 minutes. Then remove it from heat and stir in butter until melted.


In a bowl combine the eggs, flour and salt. Add egg mixture to the maple syrup mixture and stir to combine. Pour mixture over the baked crust and then bake for 25-30 minutes or until dessert is set. Cool completely before cutting into small bars.
