Pecan Maple Rolls

These flaky, sweet rolls have just the right balance of sweet maple and nuts. They make the perfect breakfast or snack! Pecan Maple Rolls do take a little time to prepare, but it is time well spent. Made with our pure maple sugar and topped with our pure maple syrup/sugar glaze, these rolls are so tasty! Served warm or left over, cold the next day...they are delicious paired with a cup of coffee, tea or ice cold milk. Yum!

Ingredients:

3 tsp yeast

2 tsp honey

1/2 cup warm water (110-115 degrees)

1 tsp salt

1/4 cup honey

2 eggs, slightly beaten

1/2 cup butter, melted

3-4 cups flour

1 cup pecan pieces

6 T margarine or butter

1 T butter, melted for brushing dough

2 tsp cinnamon

Two rolls coated with a brown glaze and chopped pecan nuts sit on a white plate. They are twisted like cinnamon rolls with swirls of glaze inside them.
Pecan Maple Rolls are flaky, sweet and make the perfect breakfast!

Directions:

Mix yeast, 2 tsp honey and warm water in large bowl and let sit to dissolve.

Once dissolved, add salt, honey, beaten eggs and 1/2 cup melted butter.

Mix then add 3 to 4 cups of flour. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth and not sticky. Put dough in greased bowl, cover and let rise for 60 minutes. Place pecan pieces on bottom on greased 9x13 pan. Make sure you grease pan well!

Mix together maple syrup, sugar and butter/margarine in pan on stovetop. Bring mixture to a boil and then cool slightly. While syrup mix cools, roll dough into 15x12 rectangle. Brush dough with melted butter and spread mixture of maple sugar and cinnamon on top of dough. Roll dough into log, starting with long side. Cut into 1" slices and place them over the pecans in pan. Finally, pour the cooked maple syrup/sugar/butter mixture over the rolls and let them sit and rise for another hour. Bake rolls at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
